Action Consensus
Ende Gelände mass action 2026 in the Ruhr Area
The action consensus is our shared framework for the days of action from 28–30 May 2026. We adopted it together within the alliance so that it provides transparency, orientation, and safety. We say what we do, and we do what we say. Everyone who identifies with this consensus is warmly invited to take part. The action consensus also reflects that, in an action involving many people, we look out for one another, act reliably, and support each other.
Gas phase-out and demilitarization now!
The coal phase-out is not yet complete; however, new fossil gas power plants are already planned for construction in the Ruhr region. We will thwart these plans with many people from 28–30 May 2026. In doing so, we send a clear signal against the expansion of fossil infrastructure and the burning of climate-damaging gas, and we draw attention to the arms industry and its business with death and destruction.
The climate catastrophe, which is becoming increasingly tangible, as well as wars and genocides, are destroying people’s livelihoods all over the world. We are setting a practical sign of resistance against this life-hostile development of fossil capitalism.
Our action image
Our actions convey a diverse, creative, learning, open, and determined image. Together we can achieve a great deal and will not be stopped on the path toward another possible world. With our actions, we place ourselves in the way of destruction. The mass action is directed against the interests of corporations and not against the people in the region, especially not against workers.
We point out alternatives to the existing capitalist exploitation. To this end, we create spaces for exchange with people in the region. With our camp, we create a space in which vibrant utopias become visible, tangible, and experienceable.
Form of action and civil disobedience
Part of our actions is civil disobedience. Through this, we oppose the infrastructure of corporations that place profits above lives. We deliberately counter this with our bodies and our voices. We do so through demonstrations, blockades, and creative actions that can have an impact beyond our physical presence.
In doing so, we will not allow ourselves to be stopped by either structural or police obstacles.
Safety and collective self-determination
We want everyone to go into action consciously and well informed, and for us to decide responsibly on the forms of action that are appropriate in each case. To this end, we offer trainings, information, and spaces for exchange in advance.
The safety of everyone involved is a priority for us: we do not endanger people and we take care of our environment. We make decisions on site as jointly as possible through delegate structures from the affinity groups, with consideration for the situation of those involved. Decisions about the end of the action are made by our on-site plenaries in coordination with the support structures. Together, we take responsibility for the success of the action.
We are mindful of one another
We are aware of everyday and structural discrimination among ourselves and through our environment, and we actively oppose it. To this end, we want to strengthen collective awareness and attentiveness.
We reduce barriers so that as many people as possible have the opportunity to participate in the action; however, it will not be possible for us to remove all barriers. For this purpose, we provide contact persons for questions and concerns related to accessibility.
We strive to create safer spaces for people who experience discrimination. We know that socially marginalized groups are particularly affected by repression. Since we live in a discriminatory system, it is important for socially privileged people to reflect on their behavior. This applies especially to interactions with the police, who act in ableist, racist, queer-hostile, and sexist ways. Decisions about the necessity and form of such interactions are made in the delegates’ plenary.
Our self-understanding
We come from a broad spectrum of different social and political movements and see ourselves as part of the global movement for climate justice.
We invite all people who subscribe to this action consensus to take part in the days of action. We are pleased when groups enrich the action image with their own forms of expression.
We stand in solidarity with all those who resist the colonialist and imperialist destruction of livelihoods for the sake of money and power.
Let’s go, let’s do this, Ende Gelände!
