********** "Ende Gelände" ("Here and no further") **********

DE

EN

Last year 4000 people occupied the coal diggers in Lausitz (Lusatia) and blocked the coal mining infrastructure for over 48 hours. In 2017 we will show that neither we nor the climate will follow the snail’s pace of the negotiations. We need to take action on climate every day.

Together we will show the strength of our commitment to climate justice through civil disobedience in the rhineland lignite mining area on two separate occasions: on 24th to 29th August during the climate camp and in November during the UN climate conference.

Government officials have been negotiating for 23 years and haven’t managed to limit global temperature rise. And we hardly have any time to avoid crossing the 1.5 degree threshold. Germany will miss its 2020 climate targets. And climate change won’t wait. The climate movement needs to embrace direct action more than ever.

Therefore, we would like to invite you to a relaxed evening at Baumhaus on Monday 24.7. at 7 pm. We will show the film 'disobedience' followed by an introduction to Ende Gelände and the planned actions in Rhineland this year. Of course, there will be time and space for questions and exchange.

(For all who are already more informed and/or live in the South of
Berlin, there will be a parallel Ende Gelände event and speed-dating session in Prinzessinnengärten, Kreuzberg.)

Looking forward to you all!
